Project Idea: The SPAC Mask: Smart Protection Against Covid-19

Purpose: How face masks and face shields, can be used to assist in helping maintain social-distance using sensor-based technology, to help stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus. As part of the project, I also investigated the filtering efficiency of different types of commonly used face-masks, to find the best one for the SPAC mask.

Engineering Goal: My engineering goal is to design and create a sensor-based face mask and face shield device that will aid with maintaining safe social-distance. The device will alarm the person wearing the mask (or face shield), if they are less than six feet away from another individual. The base design of the SPAC Mask device is built using an Ultrasonic Sensor, Arduino UNO R3, a case enclosure, speaker, battery pack, and jumper wires.
